TerraBlogs: Now With RSS 2.0!
What is RSS?
RSS is an acronym for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. It's an XML format for distributing news headlines, excerpts and other info on the internet. It's also sometimes referred to as "syndication."
What does this mean for the TerraBlogs sites?
All of the blog sites now feature an RSS 2.0 feed! What's that mean? That means that you can do cool stuff like add a live bookmark to any TerraBlogs domain in FireFox or check for updates via your RSS reader/aggregator!
Where's the link to the RSS feed?
The link to each domain's RSS feed is available on the main page of each domain in the form of a button that should look something like this:
![]()
Here's a list of the RSS links for each domain:
AtlantaBlogs RSS 2.0
BaltiBlogs RSS 2.0
BerkelyBlogs RSS 2.0
BostonBlogs RSS 2.0
ChattaBlogs RSS 2.0
CovBlogs RSS 2.0
MemphisBlogs RSS 2.0
MonroeBlogs RSS 2.0
NOLABlogs RSS 2.0
NSABlogs RSS 2.0
SanDiegoBlogs RSS 2.0
SeattleBlogs RSS 2.0
VermontBlogs RSS 2.0
VicksburgBlogs RSS 2.0
What are my RSS reader options?
Personally, I've been using SlashDock for Mac OS X, but there are a huge number of options available for those of you who are new to the wonderful realm of RSS. Dig around on Google to find an option that suits your style.
Enjoy!

what is questionable about the word "e n g i n e e r s" ?
I tried to leave it in a post (about editing, no less) and it got rejected...i'm just curious. I can't think of any terrible meanings connected to it. and i couldn't even post it on this comment (i should have known that, shouldn't I've) so i spaced it out...let's see if it gets past the filter this time.

There is nothing wrong with the word "engineers". It appears that it was added to the blacklist accidentally. I have removed it from the blacklist and all engineers should now be free to post on terrablogs. See, I'm saying engineer over and over again and this comment went through without a problem. Engineer, engineer, engineer. Let us know if you see more words that shouldn't be blocked.

I'm having trouble blogging to moveable type from flickr.com. It's looking for this file:
http://YOUR WEB ADDRESS/cgi-bin/mt/mt-xmlrpc.cgi
For some reason I can't get it to find it. Any ideas? I know it's something simple.

is there a way to have a template link to some sort of include file for common stuff like links and the header? this way I could update all my templates in one place. thanks.

BobW:Template modules (at the bottom of your templates page). These work much in the same way. I use modules for everything like Meta tags and headers and footers and links -- well, pretty much everything. If you create a new template module and named it "Banner", you'd call it into your templates with this code: <$MTInclude module="Banner"$>
After you've called your modules into the templates, rebuild the whole blog.
Modules will revolutionize your MT experience.
Let me know if you need some more info.
