Social networking widgetry!

Hey, Terrabloggers. Want an easy way to add social networking links and widgets to your blog?

We've built a module that'll do just that. It will add the links to the following sites from your blog's individual entries:

del.icio.us
digg
Furl
Spurl
YahooMyWeb
co.mments
Ma.gnolia
De.lirio.us
blogmarks
BlinkList
NewsVine
scuttle
Fark
Shadows
...as well as a link that allows users to
"Add this blog to my Technorati Favorites!"

It looks like this:

If you'd like to add this to your blog, you'll need to do a few simple things.

  1. Login to your blog and select the "Templates" button on the left.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom and select "Create new template module."
  3. Name your new module "SOCIABLE" ...

    sociable2.jpg

... just like that. And paste the following code into the "Module Body" section:

  4. Go back to your templates and select your "Individual Entry Archive."

  5. There's a bit of code in this template that references your blog's stylesheet. It looks something like this:

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="<$MTBlogURL$>styles-site.css" type="text/css" />

Just below that, you'll need to past this bit of code:

  6. Now, you need to reference the new SOCIABLE module you've created. Add the following code...

...into your "Individual Entry Archive" template just after your entry body. (Here's a screenshot of some code where I've done that.)

  7. now, rebuild your whole blog by selecting the "Rebuild Site" button. You're done!

Have fun.

Okay, got this up and it's awesome. I did make one tweak to have the furl window open up in another window so it won't close the original window once you've saved.

Now, for another question. Do you know a good "related entries" widget. I found this online, but I'm not sure how all the MySQL stuff works: http://kalsey.com/2003/05/related_entries_revisited/

Cheers,
Mark

Is there any way to make the line above the blocks clear/invisible? I don't have a white blog so the color doesn't fit my style.

Hey, I didn't sign up to have my blogger blog show up on the front page of covblogs. I don't want it there. Will you guys take me off?

Josiah, et al.:

Would you consider enabling TypeKey verification for Terrablogs? That way, our comments could be authenticated, and we'd be part of what looks like a growing movement to having universal URIs for people on the Internet (something which I almost proposed in my SIP). And according to Six Apart's FAQ, individual bloggers wouldn't have to require a TypeKey ID of commenters unless they wanted to.

Thanks for all the great work you do for us. I love the latest additions, although I find the sociable buttons to be a bit too busy for my own layout.

Dear Coptix,

My webblog is listed in a blog that seems to belong to someone under your responsabilitie. I really donīt get it cause my english is limited but as far as I understood, itīs something to do with abortion(!!). The page itīs too horrific to talk about. My weblog is in portuguese, have nothing to do with this matter, there is no only single post about this subject in 3 years of archives and I would like to somone explain me why that person is attacking all those people listed there, including me. Are tblog owner trying to promote itself at other people expenses? As far as I know diffamation is a crime, can be punished and I can file a lawsuit because of it. I am waiting for some explanation. I want my name and link removed from that criminal page.
Here is the horrid link:
